Welcome to February! Through the lens of Black History Month, our focus is school connectedness.
School connectedness is the belief by students that adults and peers care for them. Did you know that students are more likely to engage in healthy behaviors and succeed academically when they feel connected to school? Research shows a strong relationship between school connectedness and educational outcomes, including school attendance, staying in school longer, and higher grade. This month we will be exploring ideas of connection and friendship through classroom discussions and projects.
Each of us is an essential part of our school community. When you are missing, our community is incomplete. When you show up, our community is stronger. When we show up for each other, each of us is stronger.
Participating schools will be entered into a monthly attendance drawing to virtually meet a special guest! Please let us know it you have any questions: (510) 630-5884.
